Our History
Drayton Engineering has spent over two decades building a reputation for quality hydraulic cylinder repairs across Toowoomba, Queensland and Northern NSW. From a single workshop operation to a specialist remanufacturing business serving mining, earthmoving and agricultural industries, this is the story of how we got here.

1998 Where it all began
Grant Fry establishes Drayton Engineering in Toowoomba, Queensland, with a clear focus on hydraulic cylinder repairs and remanufacturing. Operating from the Torrington area, the business sets out to deliver reliable, practical repair solutions for heavy equipment operators across regional Queensland and Northern NSW.

Early 2000s Building a specialist workshop
Drayton Engineering invests in purpose-built workshop infrastructure, including a 13-metre strip-down bench and nut torque facilities rated to 65,000 ft-lbs. These capabilities allow the team to service large hydraulic cylinders used in heavy industry, establishing the business as a serious specialist in the Toowoomba region.

2000s Expanding across Queensland and Northern NSW
Demand from mining, earthmoving and agricultural sectors drives steady growth. Drayton Engineering extends its service reach to include Warwick, Dalby, Roma, Rockhampton, Emerald, Mackay, Wandoan and the Hunter Valley, providing hydraulic cylinder repairs and remanufacturing across a wide regional footprint.

2010s Advanced remanufacturing and honing capabilities
The workshop adds oversize honing capacity up to 420 mm diameter and 6 metres in length, with oversize seals supplied to match. Re-rodding, re-barrelling and clevis repair services are formalised, offering customers a cost-effective alternative to full cylinder replacement across mining, earthmoving and industrial applications.

20+ Years A trusted name in hydraulic cylinder repairs
With over two decades of continuous operation, Drayton Engineering remains owner-operated under Grant Fry and continues to serve both large organisations and independent customers. The business supplies hydraulic seals, O-rings and gland bushes alongside its full repair and remanufacturing services, maintaining a strong focus on quality workmanship and fast turnaround times.
